I occasionally use Wine to run windows applications under Linux. It has certainly come a long way.

Here is a list of applications I've tried and whether they work or not.

The version I've used for these tests was v0.9.33-0ubuntu.

Works

• Photoshop 5.0 by Adobe
• Painter 5 by Fractal Design
• Kid Pix Deluxe 4 by The Learning Company
  • bundles Acrobat Reader 5.1
  • bundles QuickTime 6.5
• Caillou Magic Playhouse by The Learning Company
  • bundles QuickTime 5
  • audio stutters a bit
• Jumpstart Phonics by Knowledge Adventure
  • bundles IBM ViaVoice

Doesn't Work

• Jumpstart 1st Grade Math by Knowledge Adventure
  • Installs fine...wants 256 colors, but graphics not displaying correctly after intro
• Winnie the Pooh Preschool by Disney Interactive
  • Error dialog:

• Curious George Downtown Adventure by Knowledge Adventure
  • Installs fine... upon playing audio works but screen is blank
